Welcome to the homepage of the Heliophysical Observatory of the Konkoly Thege Miklós Astronomical Institute.
Our Solar Observatory is part of the Konkoly Thege Miklós Astronomical Institute (Konkoly Observatory) of the Research Centre for Astronomy and Earth Sciences of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in Europe - Hungary is member of European Union (EU), as a Virtual Solar Observatory. The basic activity of the Observatory is scientific research in the fields of Solar Physics exploratory (basic) research and the preparation of its findings for utilisation and publication; theoretical examinations for basic research, measurements at observatory, development of scientific methods. According to observing facilities and places, we use NASA/ESA satellite-based (space-born) and international terrestrial (ground-based) observations for our data product. The main profile of the observatory to create and maintain of sunspot-based solar data (sunspot databases) with daily refresh, which is a need of the scientific research with long-term or short-term data intervals. The community of the observatory and the scientists actively take part in the data production and the publication of the results based on sunspot data. Purposes in the future to expand current database profile with online solar prediction (solar flare) applications and to reach the laic interested community.
